SIA interpretation: Starry silhouette

A quick reminder to please vote for your favorite outfit of mine from last month — thanks in advance!

It’s time for my interpretation for this week’s Style Imitating Art (SIA) challenge, chosen by Erin @ Loop Looks.

SIA inspiration:

Erin chose this “celestial” photo illustration because she just put up her Christmas tree which has a “celestial” theme, with ornaments of suns, moons or stars. The photo illustration, created by M_Caballero, is in the public domain via Pixabay, which you can see in more detail here.

Interpretation:

My starting point was the dominant color scheme of purple, black, and grey, which I interpreted through my combination of purple overcoat, black-and-white dotted pants, and grey-and-black ombre scarf.

My pants, which look greyish from afar, are actually black with a white polka-dotted design, which you can only see up close — that was to mimic the “stars in the sky” through the tiny polka dots. And the finishing touch was my opal stud earrings, which felt like a subtle way to get in a bit of celestial iridescence that’s in the photo illustration.

And OF COURSE I had to get photos on swings, to mimic the silhouette of the person on the swings in the artwork. 😀 We took these photos at a local park and playground.

Lovely outfit – question, how do you style ankle pants in freezing cold weather?.. I’ve been wanting to do this but trouser socks look awkward :)..would love some tips and strategies!🙂

This might be a good idea for a post! Admittedly, my feet are always cold, so it doesn’t usually bother me to wear flats and ankle pants in cold weather. But I have tucked ankle pants into tall boots, to remix my ankle pants during cold weather. My trick is to pull on tall hiking socks on OVER my ankle pants first, so that they stay tucked and so that it’s easier to pull on the tall boots. You can see examples of this on my blog here at https://librarianforlifestyle.com/2013/12/16/inspiration-two-fer-cozy-knits-earth-tones/ and https://librarianforlifestyle.com/2013/12/17/merry-christmas-yall/

I absolutely adore that you found a swing on which to pose. Also, that purple coat just totally makes the outfit. So do the polka dots. As always, your attention to detail is second to none!
