A quick note that the poll is open to vote for your favorite outfit of mine from last month — thanks in advance!
And now it is time for the Style Imitating Art (SIA) round-up!
This week’s inspiration pick was suggested by longtime SIA participant, Mike, who also blogs at Post Card Purposes. He took photos of a mural that was recently painted in the library he works at, for a new “tween” area. The mural, “Galaxy,” is by artist Julie Hogarth, who gave her permission to use her work for our SIA inspiration. The mural is very large, encompassing at least three different walls, and includes a range of colors — and sparkle!
It is only fitting to start with longtime SIA participant, Mike, who provided this week’s inspiration! He chose the blue/green shirt because it matched the blue/green tones of the wall painting and made him think of the planets Uranus and Neptune. The black pants represent the “blackness” of outer space.
I also couldn’t help going to Mike’s post on his Post Card Purposes blog and getting this other pic of Mike in front of the actual mural in his library. How cool is that?!
Longtime SIA participant Kezzie from the Kezzie AG blog is back with a fantastic and colorful dress and scarf combo. Y’all know how much I love pattern-mixing AND color-coordinating, both of which are on display in Kezzie’s outfit. I think Kezzie captured the colors and the “movement” of the mural very well.
Next up is SIA co-founder Salazar @ 14 Shades of Grey, who opted for a black-and-white look with details inspired by the mural — like the star print on her shirt (for the “galaxy”) and the brushstrokes on her skirt (for the swirls and movements in the painting). More pattern-mixing, I love it!!!
Also, you definitely want to visit Salazar’s outfit post, which has closeups and more pics.
SIA co-host Erin @ Loop Looks wore “The Martian” t-shirt that has a line from the movie/book and says “space botanist” on it. Such a clever way to tie in with the “galaxy” theme! And I agree with Erin that the lights on her deck add a “little extra galaxy sparkle.” 😀
And lastly, there’s me. More photos and closeups in yesterday’s post, including closeups of my star-printed cardigan and dangly earrings with star-shaped beads!
Thank you all again for a fantastic and varied SIA round-up! There is a wide range of outfits, colors, and prints here. 🙂
Be sure to catch the next SIA challenge next Monday, when co-host Erin @ Loop Looks will next choose an inspiration artwork.
