It’s time for this week’s Style Imitating Art (SIA) round-up! It’s a very small crew this month — just the SIA co-hosts — and I’m guessing everyone else is on vacation or wilting from the heat from these “dog days” of summer? But we still have some cool (har har) inspirations to get you through this last week of August!
SIA inspiration pick:
I recently watched The Danish Girl on DVD, and it’s based on the 2000 book of the same name and the real-life relationship between Danish artists Gerda Wegener and Einar Wegener, who became Lili Elbe, one of the first-ever documented recipients of sex reassignment surgery. I was really struck by the artwork of Gerda (1886-1940), who was played by Alicia Vikander in the film, who also won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for the role.
SIA co-host Erin @ Loop Looks didn’t have anything in her own wardrobe that she loved so she borrowed some items — including pearls and a chair and a dog — from her friend Annabelle’s LuLaRoe shop. (Both the dress and the kimono are actually for sale!) Annabelle’s dog Budweiser joined Erin on the chair, and Erin’s dog Chewie posed sweetly by her feet. Such a perfect inspiration outfit and photo! 😀
SIA co-host and co-founder Salazar @ 14 Shades of Grey paired a light blue polka-dotted top with a black pleated skirt. The top has a little pearl button at the back, so it’s doubly perfect for the inspiration artwork! Be sure to visit her blog for more details and close-ups.
Finally, there’s me in a floral skirt and pearls. More pics and details in yesterday’s post. All you need is love…. ♥
Thanks again to my SIA co-hosts for keeping the SIA inspiration going! 😉
Next week, Erin @ Loop Looks will curate the next SIA challenge, and she has promised something extra fun — including a giveaway! — so if you enjoy the biweekly SIA challenges and have never participated — or perhaps it’s just been awhile — then please consider participating in this next one plus upcoming challenges.
