SIA interpretation: Chicago naturescape

It’s my interpretation of this past week’s Style Imitating Art (SIA) challenge, this round curated by Erin @ Loop Looks.

SIA inspiration pick:

Erin decided to use a photograph that her friend, an amateur photographer, took of tulips against the Chicago skyline. Her friend posts online and on Instagram as blinkofalens.

My interpretation:

My outfit came together very quickly. I primarily focused on the pink and turquoise colors in the photo. (It also helped that I had recently painted my fingernails “Rockstar Pink” and my toenails “Jazzy Jade” from the Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear line.) I knotted my thinner chambray shirt over my pink-and-white ikat-print sundress.

I also had Sam take some photos from a lower perspective, to echo the angle taken in the inspiration photograph. It was fun to look super tall in these photos — I guess my legs are like the “stems” of the flowers? 😉

We took photos in Wright Park in Tacoma, where we also enjoyed the annual Food Truck Fest! The greenery of the park grass totally fit in with the inspiration photograph.

We also took a few photos by one of the nearby sculptures in the park, a bronze sculpture of an older man and a younger girl called “The Leaf” by teacher-turned-artist Larry Anderson.

I really enjoyed wearing this outfit, and it came together so easily. Gotta love summer! ♥

Fun perspective & beautiful colors to match the SIA photo, Jen. Love that dress with the chambray shirt tied over it. Perfect emerald green backdrop. 🙂

Thanks, Ruth! The dress has a shape (with box pleats) and a neckline (sweetheart) that are rarities in my closet — I generally prefer a fit-and-flare silhouette — so it’s fun to wear something a little bit different for me every now and again. 🙂
