For the rest of this week, I will be highlighting favorites from 2016 in a “2016 recap” mini-series! (And if you haven’t already, please take a minute to vote for your favorite outfit of mine from December.)
This will be the third year that I’ve I highlighted my favorite photos of the year. See here for my favorite photos from 2014 and from 2015. Note that my favorite pics are not necessarily from my favorite posts or of my favorite outfits.
I’ve also linked the original blog post below each pic, so you can enjoy exploring.
Posing in library stacks post from Sept. 2016: I had to start with this one, it’s too perfect! I rarely pose in libraries — the lighting tends to be bad — but we couldn’t pass up this opportunity. I liked this photo so much that I used part of it for a new style blog graphic logo. 🙂
Leo handsome post from Feb. 2016: I’m a Leo, so this choice just makes sense. I cracked up when Sam placed his sunglasses on this lion statue in Portland. Plus, if you go to the original post, you get bonus Sam style!
Zoo casual | Light layers on a chilly summer day post from July 2016: More Leos, this time real-life lions! Unbeknownst to me at the time, Sam captured this photo of me gazing at the lions at the Oregon Zoo.
Camel camel | What I wore to the Tacoma zoo from Sept. 2016: More animals! This is when I wore a camel tee, not knowing that the Point Defiance Zoo in Tacoma had camels you could ride. Sam saw an opportunity and took it! 😉
Tex | Conference casual from May 2016: I took an opportunity to take pics when I spied this “Tex” sign. It turned out to be my favorite outfit that month — and one of my favorite pics! (I grew up in Texas.)
Mixing classic + modern | Shirtdress + ankle boots post from March 2016: I loved this photo for the glow of the afternoon setting sun in the background.
Keeping it simple with a retro-inspired print dress from June 2016: Another happy accident during a photo shoot! Sam captured this twirl just as a gust of wind caught the edge of my retro-inspired shirtdress. My very own Marilyn Monroe moment! 😉
Tacoma casual Sam post (April 2016): Here’s a photo I captured of the beautiful Puget Sound back when we were visiting the town during Spring Break. This is along Ruston Way, which we’ve since returned to time and again. I think it’s easy to see why.
On the waterfront | Chambray shirt + LBD post from August 2016: Once again by the Sound along Ruston Way! I loved several photos from this series of photos we took that day, but this one was my favorite, as I look and feel so relaxed. The Sound does that to me. 🙂
Black maxidress with metallic accessories post from August 2016: I loved this outtake — that hand belongs to my father-in-law! — when we visited that Museum of Glass during my in-laws’ summer visit to Tacoma. So many of my favorite photos are happy accidents! 😀
Dressing up as Mary Poppins (Oct. 2016): This was Salazar‘s idea, to dress up as Mary Poppins for Halloween, inspired by this Umbrella Mural in Tacoma and resulting post earlier in the year. And I had all these pieces in my closet for another no-cost Halloween costume. This photo makes me smile, particularly the cherries on this umbrella that tie into “Cherry Tree Lane” setting from the stories.
SIA interpretation: Tempest post (Nov. 2016): Last but not least, the photo Sam took of me throwing a rock into the Puget Sound. I just love the color tones and the composition of this photo, not to mention that Sam captured the splash! This was part of a collage in the original post, but it’s nice for this photo to get its own due here.
Any personal faves of yours here? Please leave a comment and let me know.
