If you haven’t already done so, today is the final day to enter my holiday GIVEAWAY for a chance to win your own teeth whitening kit. Thanks in advance!
More subtly holiday-appropriate outfits for work! This time, it’s a “casual Friday” kind of combo, when I layered a red striped tee under my black textured jazer.
This outfit is super practical and comfy. Rubber-soled boots so I wouldn’t slip on the ice that formed overnight. Stretchy jersey knit and long-sleeved tee. Knit jazer (jersey blazer) that’s pretty unstructured but still nice enough to give a slight “professional” look to my outfit to make it more work-appropriate. You could totally switch out my dark jeans for trousers, and you’d be good to go!
By the way, we took these pics in front of the iconic glass tower that’s part of the Museum of Glass in Tacoma. It makes for a simple yet still visually interesting backdrop, yes?
It’s also an example of how our pattern has shifted over the years when it comes to taking photos. To alleviate any stress of “OMG, how do we squeeze in extra time to take pics?” and seeing it as a burden, we just look for opportunities to take pics while we’re out doing stuff in our daily lives. We do this particularly on the weekends, or when I work later in the day and we’re out in the morning doing errands (like what happened today). This works particularly well in the middle of winter, when it’s already dark and impossible to take photos when I get home at night. I also loathe having to dress in the same outfit after the fact in order to take photos, which I did the first couple of winters for this blog. It always felt like wasting time to do that, plus you didn’t get the sense of how I chose to do my hair, etc., on the day. (I make a lot of those kinds of decisions in the spur of the moment, often right before I walk out the door.) The photos all tended to look same-y to me, because my hair and makeup were the same throughout.
The way we take a lot of photos now, while we’re out and about, I get to stay true to capturing what I actually wear, while going about my regular day-to-day life, on the day that I actually wear the outfit. Plus, it helps us capture different backdrops so you often get a better sense of where we live. Win-win! Do you like this way of capturing my outfits? Please leave a comment and share!
True story, it was LITERALLY freezing cold that day. This photo shoot was quick, y’all. And of course, it was really windy, too, so that was SUPER FUN for me. Sam captured all that fun in the pics below. 😉
And below is how a shift in perspective can change everything. I took three steps forward and turned, Sam pivoted the camera, and voilà, a gorgeous backdrop of the waterfront and marina in downtown Tacoma.
