It’s time for the Style Imitating Art (SIA) round-up, the final SIA challenge for the year. We will take a break for the end-of-the-year holidays.
I started us off in 2016 with a painting of a sunrise, so I thought it would be fitting to close out SIA for 2016 with a painting of a sunset. This is Railroad Sunset, a 1929 painting by Edward Hopper.
First up is SIA co-founder Salazar from 14 Shades of Grey, who took this tunic out of storage because it was so perfect for this inspiration painting. I agree! Plus, the mustard scarf is a stroke of sartorial genius! 🙂
Alison is back with a fabulous outfit and printed skirt. Before she gave birth to twins, she was able to participate in the first SIA challenge of the year, with Georgia O’Keeffee’s Sunrise painting. So how perfect that she’s able to join us to round out the year?! 😀 Alison is doubling up on the outfit, also using it for another challenge, #DAREcember by Fox On Flats. Mondays theme is “Vintage,” so she included her Aunt Alma’s “A” pin.
SIA co-host Erin @ Loop Looks didn’t have time for a full outfit shot, so she put together a flat lay of her SIA-inspired outfit. Loving the stripes and color scheme!
Next is Michael, a veteran SIA participant, who recycled a previous SIA outfit that also fit this challenge. The colors in his outfit definitely echo the colors in the inspiration painting, plus the sun was setting when he took the photo.
Another longtime SIA participant Karen @ She Thought She Could dressed in colors of the sunset, with her yellow infinity, soft orange cardigan, and pink skirt. Love love love the colorblocking! And if I’m judging the background correctly, I think she managed to take the photo as the sun was setting!
It was a surprise when I received in my inbox a SIA submission from a dog. Yes, that’s right, a dog! I mentioned this to my husband, who quipped, “If the dog’s wearing a sweater, then it counts.” And so it does! This photograph with the sunset, palm tree, and sweater-wearing pup is EVERYTHING, y’all.
And finally, there’s my submission. I can’t compete with that dog — who could?! — but you can see more photos and close-ups of my outfit in yesterday’s post.
Thanks to everyone, both humans and non-humans, for participating, not only in this final SIA challenge for 2016, but also to all who participated throughout the year!
We’ll be taking an SIA break for the remainder of the year, as the sun sets both in this week’s painting AND for 2016. Happy holidays!
