What I’m wearing for Thanksgiving this year

Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings.
~ William Arthur Ward (1921–1994)

Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Americans, here in the U.S. and those living abroad. And Happy Thursday to all my readers! (As always, thank you.) Here’s an outfit I wore last week and am re-wearing for Thanksgiving day.

By the way, I am loooooooving my new burgundy cargo vest, which is by the American Rag brand. I first paired this vest with a teal long-sleeved tee and plaid infinity scarf in autumnal colors. I particularly like how the vest curves down in the back, providing more coverage. The burgundy color of this vest is so deep and rich! ♥

The backdrop, a mural on the east side of Tacoma in the McKinley Park district, is “a snapshot of the way life used to be for Native American people centuries ago in the very location where the mural is situated – two Native American hunters moving in on a bear while a third acts as a lookout from behind a tree.” This mural “honor[s] our region’s rich tribal history, as the McKinley Park area was once a fertile hunting ground for the Native American families that lived there centuries ago,” particularly the Puyallup Tribe. (The Puyallup tribe’s original name for Mt. Rainier was, in fact, Takhoma!) The mural was created by artist and Puyallup Tribal member Anthony Duenas, and the project was sponsored by the Eastside Neighborhood Advisory Council. You can read the origin of these quotes and more about the mural here.

It is a beautiful, striking mural, and it felt like a fitting backdrop for a Thanksgiving-themed post, to recognize and appreciate the roots and history of the area we now call home.
