Remixing hearts + shades of red

Last week, I highlighted past fall favorite outfits I would wear again… which is basically what I did with this outfit. This is essentially the same outfit, only with the “completer piece” changed from a light blue cardigan, when I wore it last fall, to a denim jacket this fall. I also changed up the placement of the red fabric belt that came with this eShakti dress.

But those small differences make an impact. My 2015 outfit looks more 1950s retro, with the belted cardigan, while my denim jacket topper this fall helps make my outfit look more modern. Either way, I love this outfit and this heart-print dress!

And the house behind me in the photos? Yep, it’s our new home in Tacoma! ♥

Last time, I wore this belt with the cut-out to the side. This time, I placed the cut-out front and center. I liked that from afar, it looks like banding on the waist of the dress!

I really liked how all the colors came together in this outfit, even with all the different shades of red. I am mixing together bright red (belt), a bright burgundy (coat), a slightly warmer burgundy (tote bag), and a brownish burgundy (tights). Yet it all looks cohesive. Why? I think it comes down to the print of the dress, which has both bright red and burgundy shades in it. Plus, everything else is a neutral, including the white background of the dress, my bronze heels, and my denim jacket.

I so love these remix posts!!
But I have to admit that both jacket & cardigan are almost the same color!! I mean, you’re totally right that they have different styles & look different. But then I love seeing it with your red coat. Now you should do another outfit with this dress and a totally different color on top?? Pretty please..:)

It’s funny, I don’t even see denim anymore as a “color” — I just see it as a neutral! I liked showcasing little details and small challenges to remixing in this post — I rewear outfits, or similar outfit combinations, all the time, but I don’t necessarily show them on the blog, so it was a nice change of pace for me to show a more realistic (?) remix this time around. But yes, I will do a bolder remix next time with this dress. 🙂
