Shopping for trousers at White House, Black Market

I recently went shopping for wide-legged trousers at White House, Black Market, and I thought I’d share dressing room pics with y’all! WHBM was having a major sale, and I’ve been jonesing the wide-legged or flared silhouette lately.

Note:  This post is NOT sponsored by White House, Black Market. I just wanted to share with my readers of my thoughts and experiences recently shopping there.

I have to admit, I had a great shopping experience at WHBM! I was wearing the black sweater + brown tweed trousers outfit you saw last week. There was a really sweet moment when I was walking past the sales counter, and the sales guy complimented me on my beret. As I thanked him and continued past the counter, and he got a first look at my entire outfit, he literally gasped and cried out, “Oh my goodness, you look so CHIC!” I burst out in giggles — this kind of moment is SO RARE — and then we continued to have a fun conversation about the virtues of wide-legged trousers and the miracles of ponte knit.

I tried on several pairs of wide-legged or flared trousers available in the store, including a pair of flared denim trousers, a stretchy red pair with buttons on the side, a stretchy herringbone pair in an interesting burgundy brown color; and flared black trousers with silver stud detailing.

I also took a “Tres Chic” striped shirt that was on sale to try on with the trousers (I didn’t end up buying it), but I joked that I had unintentionally ended up looking very French in my stripes and beret! Sam took up a spot on a comfy chair in the dressing room area, and I laughed when I realized he had started sneaking pics of me trying on the different trousers. You can even spot him reflected in the mirrors in some of the pics below!

He didn’t take pics until after I had tried on the denim trousers, so the first set of pics he took was when I tried on the stretchy red trousers. I loved the color and the stretch, but in the end, I didn’t think I needed another pair of red pants. (I have a pair of red ankle pants, seen here, as well as a pair of red jeans, seen here.)

I loved the wide-leg trousers seen below, which have a really interesting herringbone pattern when you look close, and the material has a nice stretch to it. The color is also a nice mix of burgundy and brown, so these would be really versatile!

And finally, trying on the flared black trousers with the stud details on the pockets. The high waist and stud details along the pockets make these pants look like a modern take on sailor pants, and I have ALWAYS wanted a pair of sailor pants. For realz. And these trousers are in a heavenly-feeling ponte knit. So, yes, these trousers found their way into my shopping bag. 😉

I also love how Sam caught pics of me in the dressing room that feel so true to life. You can tell I’m checking out different angles of how these pants fit!

I’ll be back tomorrow with my monthly budget post, so you can get more details about this shopping trip, and more.

Do you like the flared or wide-leg silhouette for trousers? Please leave a comment and share! 🙂

I’m glad you got those pants, because I love sailor pants too. I’ve always wanted a pair myself… maybe I could add some button details to my wide-leg pants or jeans? You’ve inspired me to try a DIY!

I have just posted on some wide-leg casual trousers I recently bought in a charity shop. They are lovely and warm and comfy. Your trousers look great and really suit you. I am inspired to get some more wide-leg trousers but I always have trouble in finding the right fit.

Thanks for linking up to Top of the World Style. I think that taking photos in the store is a great thing. Much better than just relying on the mirrors.
