SIA: Vogue peacock

It’s time for another Style Imitating Art (SIA) challenge… and I suspect my fellow SIA co-host Salazar from 14 Shades of Grey is going to looooooove what I chose this time around! I chose a vintage Vogue cover, from November 1909, featuring a peacock scene in shades of grey, black, white, and orange. The cover appears to be titled “Vanity.”

I wanted something simple and striking, and I spent an enjoyable hour oohing and aahing over vintage Vogue covers before deciding on this one. The colors feel appropriate for this time of year, as we look toward the Halloween and Thanksgiving holidays. This cover feels very elegant and chic, as does the grey-black-and-orange color scheme. You could also be inspired to go with a pattern, like the abstract polka dots that make up the eyes of the peacock feathers on this cover.

So how do you participate in SIA challenges? Both bloggers and non-bloggers are invited to participate. Just send a photo — selfies or flat lays also just fine — of an outfit inspired by this week’s inspiration artwork. Send a photo to me at by next Monday, Oct. 31 (Halloween!), by 10 p.m. PST. I will post the round-up on my blog the following morning, on Tuesday, Nov. 1 (All Hallow’s Day).
