Black stripes + red denim

Just a final reminder that the poll is still open to vote for your favorite outfit of mine last month — thanks in advance!

A classic color combination, red and black and white. Again, I kept it simple — haven’t I been saying that for weeks?! but it’s still true — this time, with my red jeans (rolled up to capri length), black + white striped tee, and black strappy sandals. I wore this simple summer outfit running errands and buying odds and ends before the move.

I have been wanting to take photos against this Portland mural backdrop for awhile. Not sure what it is? It’s a couple of walls outside a local vacuum repair shop, so that’s the reason for the outlines of different kinds of vacuums and vacuum parts. Genius! It’s so memorable! (“We need to get our vacuum repaired.” “Where?” “You know, by that place where all the vacuums are painted on the walls.” “Oh yeah!”)

Since the walls are so graphic and striking, I dressed in a simple but striking combination that would kind of “pop” against the black and white backdrop. The final pop of color, of course, comes from my classic red lipstick. 🙂

This outfit looks great on you! It’s a good inspiration; love black and red together. The backdrop is perfect. My son moved to Portland two years ago, and I have been able to visit once so far – it’s such a great city. He loves it. Thanks for the info you share about it. Have a great day.

Thanks for linking up to Top of the World Style. I agree red-white-black is a classic, but it is also one o the trickiest combination. One always has to make sure not to end up looking like Santa Claus’ wife. You did a great job on avoiding it. Love the look.

Oh Jen, I love this look! It is so simple and classic, yet so striking and just gorgeous! I may have to copy but with a pair of adorable cobalt capri pants from the Gap that I recently scored for $2.50 at my local thrift store!

Thanks for linking up with me On the Edge of the Week. I hope to see you again next week. Have a fabulous weekend!

Yay for red pants!! My first pair of red pants, a pair of ankle pants, I got a few years ago, and I still remember a colleague’s expression when coming into my office and seeing them for the first time. “Wow, those are… red pants.” I just smiled very wide and replied cheerfully, “Yep!” 😀
