‘Wear to Where?’ Spring/Summer 2016 blog tour | Farmer’s Market

Last fall, I participated in my first-ever blog tour, the “Wear to Where?” blog tour, hosted by Katy of Wild and Wanderful and Angelica of Gardening in High Heels. It was so fun that they’re doing a spring/summer edition!

On this tour, fashion and sewing bloggers unite to bring you outfit inspirations for a whole range of possible spring/summer outings and activities, including outdoor festival, farmer’s market, glamping (like “glam camping), summer wedding, baseball game/tailgate, and summer picnic or BBQ.

This time around, I signed up for the “farmer’s market” theme, for which I visited my neighborhood farmer’s market, part of the wide network that makes up the Portland Farmers Market. It was a bit chillier that spring day, although the sun was shining, so I thought layers would be a good idea. A denim jacket kept things casual, as well as my red jeans and espadrille flats. I went for an “Americana” color scheme — red, white, and dark denim — which felt befitting a farmer’s market visit. 🙂

And of course, the finishing touch was a reusable tote bag, in order to carry all our fresh and local goodies back home!

My mom bought me these canvas espadrille flats last summer, but it’s the first time I’m breaking them out on the blog. The wider stripes both echo and contrast with the thinner red stripes of my long-sleeved tee.

Below are some photos I snapped at our local farmer’s market.

During our outing this time at the market, we enjoyed a breakfast of burritos and coffee (iced for me, hot for Sam) from the food cart stations before stocking up on a few things. I also enjoy how kid-friendly and dog-friendly our markets always are!

I love the farmer’s market! Every year, we have ours right in my neighborhood and it’s within walking distance from my building. I enjoy walking through every Thursday when they have it and seeing all of the vendors. I’ve gotten some great veggies there in the past.

Your farmer’s market looks bigger than ours (ours is on a mini street, not even a block long), but they both have that same exciting vibe and “feel of summer” I’m sure! 🙂

Our local farmer’s market is probably one of the smaller ones… some of the farmer’s markets here in Portland are HUGE! But yes, no matter the size of a farmer’s market, they definitely bring that feeling of summer with them.

It’s a nice reminder that summer is here. It’s nice to see everyone out and about and having a good time, as summer should be!

Farmer’s Markets so remind me of Americana (something about the fresh, local, grown right here-ness of it) so your outfit is exactly what I was hoping for! Love the pattern mixing with the different stripes. Coffee is also an important farmer’s market accessory 😀

Love this look – so Americana – but especially loving those cute striped espadrilles! And kinda jealous that it’s cool enough to wear pants and a jacket where you’re at. It’s super warm in Florida already – bring on the shorts and tees. 🙂

I’m jealous for so many reasons. Our Market hasn’t started here yet and it’s waaaay not as big as yours. I also love your red/white/blue scheme. So cute!!

Thanks, Nicole! I did wear an outfit similar to this on Memorial Day weekend — red jeans + a navy striped tee (rather than my red striped tee). I do love to wear red, white and blue! Even if I weren’t an American, I think I would wear red, white, and blue together — it just looks great together! 🙂
