Thrifting adventures | Teal houndstooth coat with faux fur collar

I continue to have the best luck in finding awesomely patterned outerwear at my favorite local resale boutique, Here We Go Again! I had spotted this teal houndstooth tweed coat on the HWGA site and popped by the nearest location to see if it was still there. Success! I tried it on and did a happy sigh. I don’t need another coat — see here for my “12 coats for Christmastime” retrospective post — but I just couldn’t resist. (Also, I got a $100 HWGA gift certificate for Christmas — thanks, Mom!)

Here I am, trying on the coat at the shop:

Although this coat is modern — it also still had the tag! —ย it has an awesome vintage feel, with its faux fur collar, fun patterned lining, and oversize buttons. It just feels very me, doesn’t it?

Also, HELLO to cool details like the patterned lining.

I love the faux fur collar, as it means I don’t have to wear a scarf! It has its own built-in scarf. ๐Ÿ˜€

The saleslady also mentioned that my hairstyle went well with the coat, hah! This is my newly trimmed hair, with slightly thicker and shorter bangs, and a darker demi-permanent rinse. My hairstylist curled the bangs slightly, which I thought gave my ’20s-style bob a little bit of a ’50s flair!

I didn’t plan on taking pics immediately — my outfit is obviously very casual, with my sneakers-and-jeans combo — but I couldn’t resist. I loved this coat so much that I wore it out of the store! ๐Ÿ˜€

Oooh, awesome coat Jen! It is very much you! And it looks warm, which helps with our cold, cold winter that we’re having. ๐Ÿ™‚

Yes, this coat is VERY warm, with the thick houndstooth weave and lining. I haven’t worn it in the rain yet because of the faux fur collar — not sure how it will bounce back. And we have been having MAJOR rain this winter, not our usual constant drizzle.

I love this coat with your current haircut and sunglasses. Totally 1960s, I keep thinking of 99 from Get Smart.
