For the rest of this week, I will be highlighting favorites from 2015 in a “2015 recap” mini-series! (And if you haven’t already, please take a minute to vote for your favorite outfit of mine from December.)
Last year, I highlighted my favorite photos from 2014. I liked the exercise so much that I wanted to do it again for my posts from 2015. Note that my favorite pics are not necessarily of my favorite posts or of my favorite outfits.
I’ve also linked the original blog post below each pic, so you can enjoy exploring.
SIA: Cafe Cloche: This photo and outfit was inspired by Edward Hopper’s 1927 “Automat” painting. The photo came out a little grainy, because of the early morning dimness, but it ended up contributing to the period feeling. This is one of my favorite outfits from this past year, as well as one of my favorite photos.
Dressing up as ‘Rosie the Riveter’: I loved everything about dressing up as the iconic “Rosie the Riveter” for this year’s Halloween costume — and that my husband went the extra mile and recreated the iconic poster for me. Still makes me smile! (And also makes me want to wear red lipstick, like all.the.time.)
Getting fancy in a floral maxidress: I felt like a modern-day Cinderella in this floaty floral maxidress from The Kewl Shop. I also remixed this maxidress for a more casual look, but I loved everything about this utterly feminine and fancy look. No wonder I chose this as my favorite for March!
SIJ: Style Imitating Jen: I was so touched when a longtime reader, Katie, was inspired by me for an outfit, which she wore to her son’s first birthday party. Such a lovely compliment!
Librarian style profile: Amy P.: A librarian friend, Amy, stayed with me in April for a librarian conference, and I played her photographer for a “librarian style profile” post. I love this photo as it so perfectly captures Amy’s joy and beautiful smile!
What I wore to an afternoon wedding: This photo is from an afternoon wedding of two friends we attended in early fall. I just love our expressions in this pic — and Sam’s kilt, of course!
Grid prints + kitty cats: I always end up with a few photos during the year featuring neighborhood cats, and I loved the composition of this shot: the stairs, Savannah’s adorably round kitty face, and my joy in getting to pet the kitty.
Behind the scenes at an NEA photo shoot: From what was a very special experience doing a photo shoot for the National Education Association, I’m so thankful for this behind-the-scenes shot that the NEA rep sent me.
Texas and Oregon vacation pics: And last, but not least, a photo collage featuring me and my beloved mom. She visited Portland this past summer, and we wore our “Home” products (her bag and my tee) while on a special behind-the-scenes tour at the Oregon State Library. My mom is a big fan and regular reader of this style blog, so it was super fun posing for pics with her!
