As a member of BrandBacker, I was recently selected to review eyebrow kits from Billion Dollar Brows for their holiday campaign. They are also sponsoring a GIVEAWAY contest for my readers to enter: 3 Grand Prize Winners will receive a prize package of their “Best Sellers Kit,” which I review below. The giveaway is open through Dec. 20.
This is my first beauty review (!), and FYI, I am using a review format similar to Franish’s recent beauty reviews. For my first beauty review, I thought it a perfect fit to start with eyebrows, as I consider well-shaped eyebrows a necessity, especially given my pale skin and dark hair. I have been tweezing and shaping my eyebrows since seventh grade (yes, really!), and I agree with Billion Dollar Brows that “eyebrows are one of the most important features of our faces — and yet they are often the most neglected.”
I was supposed to be sent one of two eyebrow kits: “Best Sellers Kit” ($42 value), which includes an assortment of their most popular products, or the “60 Seconds To Beautiful Brows Kit” ($24 value), which includes brow powder and a brow brush. Imagine my surprise — and delight! — when I opened up the package to reveal BOTH eyebrow kits! So I immediately set about using both kits.
What is Billion Dollar Brows?
Billion Dollar Brows (BDB) was founded in 2004 in Los Angeles, and they are a company dedicated exclusively to products for eyebrows. They have recently expanded their distribution to retail and online, and they strive for fair prices so “you don’t have to break the bank to have Billion Dollar Brows.”
What the kits promise:
60 Seconds to Beautiful Brows Kit: This kit, seen below, promises to “add a brilliant pop of color to your brows in ONLY A MINUTE!” I like makeup that is designed to be used quickly — my makeup routine generally consists of 5 minutes total or less. This kit comes with brow powder, in taupe (which they state is good for most hair tones) and a brow brush with one angled end and a “spoolie brush” on the other end.
Best Sellers Kit: This kit promises to “transform your brows with these essential brow products,” as seen below from top to bottom: a universal brow pencil with an automatic tip and a spoolie brush on the opposite end for “effortless blending and a perfect finish”; clear brow gel to finish off your brows and keep them “perfectly in place all day”; a smudge brush to apply cosmetics like the brow duo pencil, with highlighter on one end to give “visual lift” to your brow bone and a universal concealer on the other end.
How to use the kits:
60 Seconds to Beautiful Brows Kit: The quick tip online for this kit is to “Simply dab the powder and glide along your brow line with our angled brush and blend with spoolie brush.”
Best Sellers Kit: There is a how-to video on the “Best Sellers Kit” page online, that illustrate how to use the brow pencil to fill in gaps in the brows and then set brows with the clear gel, finishing off with the highlighter both above and below the brow shape.
60 Seconds to Beautiful Brows Kit: I started out using the brow powder and brush in this kit. I am right-handed, so it was easier to do my left eyebrow (my own fingers kind of got in the way of my sightline while doing my right eyebrow and felt a little cumbersome with the long brush.) I have never used brow powder before, so I was pleasantly surprised by the color and consistency of the powder (it wasn’t too flaky) and the sturdiness of the brow brush.
Below is a collage of before, during, and after while using the “60 Seconds” kit. Note that I started with a face of light makeup and eyeshadow.
Best Sellers Kit: After using the brow powder from the “60 Seconds” kit, I continued on with the “Best Sellers” kit and used the brow pencil to fill in a few gaps. I am more used to a brow pencil, which feels more precise to me. I didn’t use the highlighter along the top of my brows, like in the video; rather, I just used it on the brow bone below my eyebrows. I used a little of the concealer end in the middle between my eyebrows and on my under-eye circles and smoothed it out with the brush. I then finished off everything with the clear brow gel. I’ve used clear mascara in the past to set my brows, so this felt natural to use.
Below is a collage of using the products in the “Best Sellers” kit:
What I like:
I do think their products are priced fairly, and y’all know that I am mindful about my budget when it comes to clothing and makeup! You can also save by buying their kits, particularly the “Best Sellers Kit,” which is priced at $42 — if you bought the four most popular products in this kit separately, it would come out to $68. Their website is also easy to navigate, and they have helpful “how to” videos on each product page! The spoolie brushes were also nice and thick, and the brow brush from the “60 Seconds” kit was sturdy to use.
What I don’t like:
It would have been a nice bonus if the kits, particularly the “Best Sellers Kit,” had also come with a bag or case to transport the products more easily and keep the products together. I liked the highlighter end of the duo pencil, but the concealer end looked a little ashy on my skin.
Would I purchase this product myself?
Honestly, I am convinced by the effects of these brow makeup products, and I find the Billion Dollar Brows products to be both good quality and reasonably priced. I usually don’t spend that much time on my eyebrows during my (very minimal) makeup routine, relying mostly on tweezing to shape my eyebrows. But I was pleased to find that I didn’t spend much more time using the products in these two kits, and I really liked the results. I still looked like myself, just with better defined eyebrows. I honestly felt more confident! I will continue to use these products, and I am bookmarking the Billion Dollar Brows website for when I need to restock.
And now, one more look at the final result, one with my glasses back on. Now I really look like myself! 😉
I hope y’all enter the eyebrow kit giveaway, which is open through Dec. 20!
