Monthly budget adventures (October 2015)

Time for my monthly budget round-up!

Librarian for Life + Style | What I got (Oct. 2015) collage
  • Plaid sheath dress, eShakti {sold out online but here’s a similar option}:  paid $14.85 (original price $54.95, used combination of gift cards + sale promotions)
  • Locket heart print dress with red fabric belt, eShakti {sold out online but here’s a similar option}:  paid $0 (original price $99.95, on sale for $49.95, used combination of gift cards + sale promotions)
  • Chevron print knit skirt, eShakti {sold out online but here’s a very similar option}:  paid $0 (original price $54.95, buy 2 get 1 free promotion)
  • Grey suede booties, Naturalizer {exact}:  paid $51.15 (original price $129, 50% off + additional 20% off sale)

I totally took advantage of some super sales this month! At eShakti, I was able to stack two different coupons, one for $20 and another for $100, and use those in combination with a buy-2-get-1-free promotion along with a free-customization promotion period. However, even with the customized sizing, I am going to have to tailor two of my three new eShakti items, so you haven’t seen these items on the blog yet. Stay tuned…

Librarian for Life + Style | New grey suede booties

Last week, I also wrote about how I snagged these gorgeous grey suede-and-leather booties on major sale at a local Naturalizer outlet store. Still SO excited about these bootie beauties!

TOTAL SAVINGS for this month:  $272.85

TOTAL SPENT THIS YEAR: $614.15
TOTAL SAVINGS THIS YEAR: $2,728+

Going local

Last month, I wrote about my experiences using ThredUp. Next month, I’m looking forward to attending a local fashion swap event — I already have some items picked out to swap!

You always manage to hit the jackpot on the eShakti sales. Any chance you can blog about your secrets to coupon stacking with them? Although, it is a bummer that you still need to get your items tailored.

Yes, I have finished with one dress, so I will have an upcoming sewing adventures post. It really has become hit-or-miss when it comes to sizing on eShakti, which can be frustrating.

Thanks for the post idea/suggestion for coupon-stacking. Sometimes I feel weird about putting together posts like that — it’s like, do I really have anything useful to say? I just wait for promotions like free shipping or free customization and I watch the fine print like is there a minimum order amount — is that enough for a post? It felt like it took me so long to get around to the idea of doing a budget post series in the first place — I guess I just need to give that some thought.

I really want to see the first plaid dress with the booties! If you have already I just need to catch up on your outfits– which I need to do regardless.
