Back to bangs

My bangs are back! I recently had went back to my hairstylist, a student at a local Aveda cosmetology school, who I’ve now seen three times. I wanted a trim of my bobbed hairstyle, and I was inspired to go for bangs again.

Wondering why I go to cosmetology schools? Read my post about getting haircuts at cosmetology schools, which includes tips and tricks.

I love my new haircut! Of course, Phryne Fisher’s ’20s-style banged bob was the inspiration again, same as last time, nearly a year ago. It’s just a really cool, striking kind of cut. It was sweet, too, how classmates of my student stylist kept coming over and complimenting her on the cut. AND I got a very good tutorial on how to blow-dry the bangs, by blowing them to the side opposite my cowlicks. That tip has really worked out!

Now onto the outfit… I really wasn’t planning to take photos today of my outfit, but Sam insisted because he liked the casual outfit I was wearing. It’s a super-simple outfit:  I pulled on boot-cut jeans, basic brown ankle boots I’ve had for nearly two decades, a sweater, and my faux-leather jacket. Sweater + jeans + a jacket. That’s it, y’all! Casual, cool, comfy.

Sam also tried a series of photos by changing the “white balance” on my camera phone to the setting for an overcast day. The resulting photos came out kind of sepia-toned and washed-out, like through a ’70s-style filter. I thought the effect was cool, so here’s my favorite from that photo batch:

And last but not least, yay for fall!

So what do y’all think of my new ‘do? Are you glad to see the bangs return?

You pull off bangs very well! There’s a part of me that wants to try bangs (haven’t had them since elementary school) but since I get sweaty at the gym every day at lunch I just don’t know if it would work…

Cuuuute! I sometimes consider changing my hair, but then I realize that the slightest change – not even a cut or anything, just a different hairdo – would be too much for me. I just don’t have the time.

Thanks, Apryl! I think I just like having options — some days I want bangs, other days I don’t and just pin them back or wear a headband. I’m sure one of these days I’ll grow my hair out again, but for now, I’m enjoying having it short! 🙂

The bangs look perfect on you. I had side swept bangs for a long time, but decided to grow them out for a while. When your hair is mid-back, it starts being difficult and makes me antsy to cut them back. Bangs look perfect on you. According to my stylist, my forehead isn’t quite big enough for straight across ones. I’d have to agree, especially when I look at pictures from back in the day when I did have them. I’m glad Sam convinced you to take photos. I love a casual outfit just as much as a work one!
