Mixing polka dots, big and small

I woke up this work morning thinking of wearing a different outfit and then realized that outfit wouldn’t work since I was going home on public transit (practicalities come first in my world). I literally pulled this outfit together in a half-sleep state, and the starting point was my polka-dotted ankle pants. Next, I spied my polka-dotted peplum top and thought, “Why not mix polka dots and polka dots?” And thus an outfit was born. 😉

For work, I wore my black cardigan over the peplum top. But for photos, I wanted to showcase the shape of the peplum top, including the fun cut-out back.

I’ve mixed together polka dots and polka dots before. Since the polka dot pattern on the ankle pants is so small, having larger polka dots on the top works out well when mixing together variations of the same pattern.

Would you mix polka dots together?

Glad I’m not the only one who takes how they’re getting to and from work into account when getting dressed! I’ve been riding a bike to and from work recently so it’s been mostly pants instead of dresses.

Although, I’m curious – what were you going to wear that you deemed not public transit friendly?
