Back to school in burgundy + white + animal print

Fall term started last week! I have actually worn this outfit twice recently, including on the first day back to school. And it marks a second time that I’ve worn these burgundy pants (which I dyed myself) and animal print scarf as part of my “back to school” outfit. Two years ago, I paired the ankle pants and scarf with my safari jacket and bronze heels.

  • Burgundy ankle pants:  Macy’s, dyed by me in 2013 {very similar}
  • Leopard print cap-toe flats, Macy’s {very similar}
  • Animal print scarf, fashion-swapped {similar}
  • Brown leather tote bag, JCPenney’s, old {similar}

Of course I have been choosing outfits that complement my chevron manicure. The deep burgundy of my dyed ankle pants coordinates nicely with the burgundy stripe in the manicure. The dark wood of my JORD watch coordinates with my brown leather tote bag. And my animal print scarf echoes my animal print flats. In my style world, color-coordination = love. 😉

    Those pants look great! I checked your post about the dyeing process, and it’s awesome that you got them to this burgundy/maroon/oxblood (whatever the latest name for that color is) from red. This is a much more versatile color, I think.

    You dyed those yourself?! They look professionally done. Very saturated and rich looking. It’s always hard to find the perfect pair. That’s awesome that you were resourceful to create your own pair.

      Wow, such a nice compliment, thanks Meghan! And it was my first time to dye anything. Of course, the incident that led to my dyeing the pants involved tears (stains on my beloved first pair of red ankle pants!), but in the end, I’m happy to have both my burgundy and red pairs of pants. 🙂
