Yellow + navy with a pop of red

Before we get to the outfit of the day, remember that you’ve still got time to participate in this week’s Style Imitating Art (SIA) challenge! You can see my interpretation and how to participate here.

I wore this outfit for a lunch out with my friend Stephanie and her parents when they came to town, but I can definitely see wearing this outfit, or a close variation, for work.

And pattern-mixing?! Who would’ve guessed? 😉

I’ve been playing with my hair part lately. Usually, I part my hair on the left side (which shows up opposite in pics). Last week, I went with a center part (see here), and on this day, I parted my hair on the right side. It’s a subtle difference, but I kind of like it!

Looking at the pics, the one thing I’d change would be the red flats, at least with this handbag. I thought they’d tie into the red handbag, but not so much. I think it’s the discordant mix — at least, to my eyes — of the large silver buckle on the flats combined with the gold chain of the handbag.

The backdrop is a series of “Human Diversity” murals near our house, which I’ve featured several times on the blog, as seen and linked below.

You look great Jen! I don’t know if you realized it, but you sort of have your own SIA going for you there. Your outfit goes nicely with the mural that you’re standing in front of. It juxtaposes wonderfully with the colors you’ve chosen and makes for a great background. 🙂 And while I don’t know too much about fashion and all, I think that your shoes tie in great to complete your overall look You sort of have the primary color theme going for you (red, yellow and blue). So it’s fine Jen! Great job! See you at the round-up tomorrow!

Those murals are seriously cool–must be nice to have them in the neighborhood! I really like the bag as a pop of red in your outfit!
