SIA interpretation: Air France | What I wore on a casual date night

Here’s my Style Imitating Art (SIA) interpretation for my choice this week, Rene Gruau’s 1960s “Air France” poster, which I highlighted last week in this post.

And there’s still time to participate in SIA! Submissions due by tonight at 10 pm PST, and I will post the SIA round-up tomorrow morning.

Librarian for Life + Style | SIA interpretation: Air France

I wore this outfit on a casual date night, which included a stroll through the Portland Rose Garden.

As the temps were quite high even after the sun went down, I wore my cotton, fit-and-flare “little black dress” that I got last fall on sale from eShakti. The cut is so classic and simple that I wanted to keep things pretty fuss-free and comfortable. I have a straw hat like the woman in the poster, except mine is a black straw fedora. The blue in the post comes through the blue tones in my hat’s striped band, as well as in the design of my new Nancy Drew tote bag. 😀

A flower and the yellow of the inspiration poster come through the roses in the garden backdrop! There’s a touch of whimsy, as well, in both the inspiration poster and my outfit.

There’s an interesting metal artwork and walkway in the middle of the rose garden. A perfect opportunity to twirl my fit-and-flare LBD!

Oooh, classy! I really need to get me a LBD. I always tell myself that, yet whenever I see one in the store I would hesitate. Maybe I haven’t found the right one yet. I would love something like this (maybe with more of a boat neck and a bit of sleeve).

Nancy Drew bag?!?!?!! Loving it!!! Your dress is really lovely- so versatile- would look equally cute with layered longsleeved shirt worn underneath with collar clips or something! Great interpretation!x

Cotton dresses are my go-to when I want to look nice and the weather is hot…as it always is here! 🙂 Love your LBD!
