Pattern-mixing with a tunic + shorts

Two quick reminders:  (1) Please let me know this week if you’d like to contribute a guest postall the details here, and (2) There’s still time to vote for your favorite outfit of June!

We have been definitely experiencing a hotter-than-usual year so far here in Portland, and this summer is continuing the trend. I’ve already broken out the shorts!

And y’all know me and how I love pattern-mixing. And this is an easy way to pattern-mix, to focus on a common color in the two patterns — in this case, navy — and then mix one large pattern with a smaller pattern.

I purchased this tunic with the wide pink and navy stripes some time ago, and I’ve worn it many times — but I realized it hadn’t made it to the blog yet. I really love its bold, wide stripes, and the longer tunic length is so comfortable!

The backdrop is a new mural in our neighborhood. Portland is the City of Roses, after all!

This is so cute! I’ll totally steal that shirt, and it’s awesome that you kinda match the backdrop too – Portland seems to have so many lovely little corners like that.

Pattern mixing done right! Very nice. First time visiting and I LOVE the little color/pattern wheel in your sidebar. How fun is that?!! And such an innovative idea.

Thanks for visiting my style blog, Shelly! And what lovely compliments, thank you! I got the idea for the color/pattern wheel from Jessica’s What I Wore blog. I like how it looks, as well — definitely helps to brighten up the sidebar. 🙂
