New chambray shirt + floral maxidress

FYI, the next SIA challenge should be up tomorrow… the upcoming challenge will be curated by Jess @ Animated Cardigan. Also, don’t forget to vote for your favorite outfit of mine last month! 🙂

A couple of weeks ago, I was on a red, white, and blue kick. This week, looking at my posts lined up in the queue, I realized I’m now in a florals kick.

First up is a casual weekend outfit I wore for a girls’ afternoon out to watch Pitch Perfect 2 (Mini-review:  Not as good as the first movie, but still thoroughly enjoyable. I ♥ Elizabeth Banks!). I always feel cold in a movie theater, so I layered my new chambray shirt over this sleeveless floral maxidress.

If you’re a longtime reader, you might recognize this floral maxidress, which I selected last summer after winning a giveaway. It has a drawstring waist and a scoop neck in the front. When I tied the chambray shirt over the dress, the drawstring ties looked odd hanging below the ends of the button-down. So I simply turned the maxidress around! This way, the drawstring detail was covered up, and the higher neckline (from the normal backside of the dress) gave this outfit a slight twist.

And y’all know I’m all about the details. When I chose my yellow colorblocked canvas tote, I also selected my yellow rose earrings to match. It’s subtle color-coordinating, I know, but it made me smile. 🙂

Here are two other ways I’ve worn this floral maxidress:

I saw the dress and was like, “Hey! I recognize that one!” It looks so different with the chambray over it though! Good choice with the hat too. Very cute. Perfect for a theater outing.

I’m laughing at your concluding question because funnily enough, I am currently wearing a maxi dress backwards with the high neck at the front with a very similar hat!!!!! Decided my cobalt maxi was a little too low cut for school but wanted to wear it for our TARDIS Tuesday link up so similarly reversed it!! How funny! Love your floral maxi and shirt. X
