Twirling in stripes

Today’s outfit incorporates two new pieces in my wardrobe — my new striped dress from Lands’ End and my new dark denim jacket from Tommy Hilfiger (via Macy’s). I bought this denim jacket a couple of weeks ago, and I have worn it at least three times already!

I wore this outfit for a more casual day at work — lots of projects as I prepped for final library instruction sessions — and a work day that included an event on campus. Also, bare legs as we enjoyed 80-degree spring temps!

The accessories — a wide stretchy belt, wedges, and handles on my vintage wicker bag — all incorporate a shade of cognac leather. This was inspired by a suggestion by my friend and fellow librarian Stephanie — thanks for the great suggestion, Stephanie!

And… last but not least, me having fun twirling in my stripe-y dress. You’re welcome. 😉

A friend of mine wanted suggestions for easy-to-wear casual dresses and I recommended these Land’s End ones because you love them so much and they always look so great! I hope she ends up loving them, too.

Yay, I hope she loves them, too! They’re super comfy and easy to wear — and they come in so many patterns! It seems Lands’ End is dedicated to keeping the same style and trying out different patterns every season/year. The only thing I wish they had were pockets… but then I always adore dresses that have pockets 😉

How cute are you in this dress?! Love how you styled it with the denim jacket. It truly is a go to for me when I want to dress a bit more casual. Thanks for sharing. Hopped over from LWIG link up party 🙂

That dark denim jacket is so perfect and slimming. I love the cut and the seam at the waist. It looks like it hits at all the right spots, over the hips and such. I know you are tall too, so that arm length looks pretty darn good, as sleeves can sometimes be harder to find than pants long enough! May I ask what size you got? I’m thinking I would probably do a large in jean jackets…

The cut and seaming on this darker denim jacket is similar to details on my lighter denim jacket. It’s really hard to find denim jackets with those kinds of details and slimmer, more feminine shapes. I went with a medium for this jacket. It’s a little bit roomy on me, in the upper shoulders and elbows, but the small size was way too tight. I don’t mind a bit of roominess in shoulders and arms, as it means it will be able to layer in other seasons. 🙂
