What I wore to read poetry | Printed tunic + leggings

I recently was organizing files and came across photos of an outfit that I never posted… photos from over a month ago, at the start of spring. Whoops. Better late than never, right? 😉

I wore this to a salon event a friend held at her house, inviting friends to contribute anything artistic they felt like sharing, like playing pieces on the piano or singing a song or reading poetry. One friend even shared some items of clothing she had designed and sewed! I read aloud some of my own poetry, the first time I’ve read in public in some years. It was such a fun and supportive environment to share and smile and laugh and appreciate all kinds of artistic endeavors.

And I really liked what I wore to this event — which makes it even worse that I totally forgot about posting it! I wanted to feel comfortable (I was already a bit nervous about sharing my poetry) and not too formal but still dressy enough for the occasion. I ended up pairing a printed tunic that I fashion-swapped a couple of years ago with my brown leggings.

I went with gold accessories and brought out then-new items I had gotten from a Lulu’s giveaway, a gold bar pendant necklace and a metallic headband. I paired them with gold hoop earrings, a gold bracelet of my grandmother’s, and turquoise studs.

Below is also a closeup of the whimsical print of this silk tunic.

And yes, that is a newly cropped hairdo from over a month ago… 😉

Thanks, Leslie, that’s so nice of you to say it was worth the wait! I was so surprised to realize that I hadn’t posted it, because I really did like the outfit and my hairstyle. I must have gotten caught up with conferences and then the Top 10 remix challenge.
