Closet adventures (March 2015)

Time for more closet and wardrobe adventures! First, a preview:

Buying local

I bought another pair of drop earrings by Clara Beau Jewelry from a local boutique called ink & peat. I already have a topaz pair, as seen here, and I couldn’t resist scooping up the same design in a clear crystal. I’ve already worn these lovelies several times, as they’re so versatile!

Shoe bonanza

I picked up quite a few pairs of shoes this month! I really need to go back through my closet and see about donating some pairs… But I could not resist this pair of striped canvas wedges on sale at Payless (and from dexflex, my favorite comfort brand at Payless). They’re SO ME, aren’t they?!

A friend of mine was also clearing out her closet after having foot surgery, and we happen to be the same shoe size… so I (kindly) offered a home to some of her shoes. 😉 This included a nice pair of new athletic shoes AND this gorgeous pair of pewter wedges with a patent leather toe cap.

Lots of savings represented with these shoes (around $625!), as these shoes are all high quality brands.

Giveaway shopping spree

I was the lucky winer of a $100 credit to Lulu’s. I spent a few days exploring their online shop — a lot of variety but their items sell out FAST — and thoroughly enjoyed my unexpected shopping spree! I also used a 10% discount after signing up for an account, so in the end, I paid less than $2 total for the following four items!

And I’ve already worn three of the items from Lulu’s, all in one “floral mixing” outfit!

Budget recap:

TOTAL SPENT for this month:  $53.34
TOTAL SAVINGS for this month:  $770+

TOTAL SPENT THIS YEAR: $120.34
TOTAL SAVINGS THIS YEAR: $1,900+

Note:  I am including the approximate value of fashion-swapped and thrifted items in the savings totals.

Complimentary items:

I forgot to mention the heart pendant necklace I received from Greg Michaels in February!

I was also lucky to work with The Kewl Shop again this past month, and I chose this gorgeous floral maxidress to review. (I had previously received a choice of a bandage dress from The Kewl Shop to review last fall — this long dress really helps show the variety of items available on their site!) I even remixed the maxidress, going casual in this post and getting fancy in this post!

Looking back, I added quite a few more items to my closet this month than I had originally thought! And a LOT OF floral.

I still need to do some spring cleaning in my closet, so that is definitely on the list for next month. My husband and I went through his wardrobe this past month and set aside a few items  to donate — I’m next on the list!

I love the items you got from Lulu’s. It’s always fun to treat your self! Those pewter wedges will last for-EV-er too. My mom only buys shoes from that brand because of that. Very cute items as always!

When I win gift cards, I almost always treat it like bonus treasures and “treat myself” as you put it. The practical shopping list goes out the window! And sometimes, the pieces I pick end up being my faves. I’ve worn the gold pendant necklace from Lulu’s several times already! 🙂
