Closet adventures (January 2015)

For the new year, I’ve decided to rename my monthly “What I got” shopping budget posts to “Closet adventures.” It mirrors my “Sewing adventures” category, and I wanted to expand the scope of these monthly round-up posts beyond just shopping for clothes. I also want to include more details about which items of clothing I’ve donated or sold each month, or perhaps posts about reorganizing my closet, so the focus isn’t always on adding items to my closet. I want to highlight a more holistic view about my closet and wardrobe. Y’all in?

This month has been an intense one — professionally and personally — so I did not have much time (or inclination) to do much shopping. In fact, the two items I did add to my closet this month were found on a shopping trip I took with my friend Stephanie right after New Year’s. And for the two items below, I paid…. only two dollars!

Resale finds:

For Christmas, both my husband and Stephanie got me gift coupons for my favorite local resale boutique, Here We Go Again. (They didn’t know that the other was getting the same gift — plus they each got me a pair of earrings, as seen here. I love that they know me so well!)

This moto-style jacket was a real find, as the St. John label is quite high-end! And you can tell the quality is really high. I’ve already worn both pieces, as seen below.

Clothing donations:

Librarian for Life + Style | January 2015 donations

This month, I donated a pair of plaid pajama pants (a bit too tight in the waist); an old purple knit gown (from college days and too tight now — but nice to know I’ve had a longtime love for this color!); a satin halter tuxedo top (from my junior year high school prom — tried it on last month for old time’s sake and waaaaaaay too tight now); and an embroidered orange tunic (given to me by a friend after Christmas but unfortunately too tight in the shoulders).

Not a bad start for the year! What do you think of this new “closet adventures” format? Please leave a comment and let me know! 🙂

Haha, yes, I know the feeling! I had to trundle upstairs to take pics of these before donating them. It’s easy to forget to take photos of them — once I decide to donate, then it’s better for me to get them out of the house as soon as possible. 🙂

This is great, Jen! Love the new format! Interesting to see what you pick up AND what you give away.
Those old high school clothes…gotta love that! 😉
