SIA: Statements in miniature

It’s SIA round-up time! It was my turn to co-host SIA (Style Imitating Art), and I chose this silver filigree Grassi family crest embedded with peach and plum stones carved by female Renaissance sculptor Properzia de Rossi. You can read more about the crest as well as Properzia de Rossi here.

First up is my friend and colleague Stephanie, who has been a longtime SIA participant. She was inspired by the color scheme, choosing a grey-and-white patterned dress, mixed metal jewelry, and burgundy sweater and tights. A lovely and flattering combination!

Next is Erin from Loop Looks, who says she did not intentionally set out to use this week’s SIA pick but must have been subconsciously influenced (obviously). Once you’ve got SIA in your sartorial souls, y’all… 😉 Erin’s scarf and t-shirt echo the colors of the inspiration piece, while her white blazer provides a backdrop like the white of the photo background. I especially love the mix of colors in the scarf!

Next is SIA co-founder Salazar from 14 Shades of Grey, who didn’t go as literal with the color scheme but chose a lovely textured blouse. And what an awesome brooch!

Finally, there’s me. I was also inspired by the silvery grey and plum color scheme, as well as statement jewelry. You can view closeups and more details here in yesterday’s post.

Thanks to all the lovely ladies who participated this week. I know it was a challenging inspiration piece, but I love the interpretations.

I love to see everyone’s interpretations of the piece; they’re all so different! Seeing others’ choices gives me inspiration to think about not being quite so literal in my interpretations. 🙂
