SIA: Young Woman Watering a Shrub

SIA (Style Imitating Art) is back after a holiday break! Salazar@ 14 Shades of Grey is curating the first SIA challenge of 2015, with Berthe Morisot‘s 1883 painting, “Young Woman Watering a Shrub.” Morisot was a French painter and one of the few female Impressionists.

The domestic scene and more casual feeling of this painting appeal to me. I also like that the woman is not facing us — a bold choice with a soft-edged Impressionist style. The colors are mostly white with black edging, but there are also splashes of green, red, grey, and brown in the background.

So how to participate in SIA? Wear whatever this painting inspires in you, and send along your submissions to Salazar at 14shadesofgreyblog@gmail.com by next Monday, January 12. She will post a round-up post the next day on her blog, 14 Shades of Grey.
