Grey + turquoise

Today’s outfit inspiration started with the chevron head scarf, a birthday gift from my mother-in-law. I immediately wanted to pair the turquoise head scarf with black — as I have done several times in the past, as seen herehere, and here — but decided on grey instead to try something different. I went very tonal with the greys, so the focus went to the head scarf.

My friend and fellow librarian Stephanie took pics today during our lunch break, and we had fun with the close-up. (I was going for a cheesy “gazing in wonder in the distance” kind of facial expression!) 😉 I went with classic pearl jewelry:  simple white pearl drop earrings and a black pearl necklace.

I thought your dress was the new one at Anthropologie. It’s very cute.
You have great backdrops for your pictures, all the nice fall leaves and the neighborhood has a vintage look. I love vintage houses for all the character they have.
    Have a nice evening,

Thanks, Stacey! The backdrop in these pics is actually at my work / college — the style is all brick and stone in the ’60s style. It was a little out-of-the-way place with shade that we stumbled upon, perfect for taking a few quick pics. It also is a rare place on campus with no classroom windows, for students to look out and wonder at what we were doing! 😉

Thanks, Daenel! I think you’ve voiced exactly what I liked about this outfit, with the soft colors together and the retro yet modern feel. I love it when reader comments bring out either something I didn’t think about, or help illustrate what was in my head but that I couldn’t quite get down in writing at the time. 🙂 I think the wrapped headscarf also softens the sharp lines of my bob hairstyle.
