Olive + black + houndstooth pinspiration

I’ve frequently been inspired by The Classy Cubicle, including one of my most popular posts ever (with one of my favorite titles, “What’s up, classy lady?“). I’ve had this olive + black + houndstooth look pinned for a couple of months now (original post here), and I was inspired by the color scheme and pattern of the ankle pants. I immediately thought about my houndstooth tights and olive cargo vest, and the rest of the outfit came together very quickly.

I felt strong and sassy in this outfit, which is what I needed, as I wore this on a work day that included a big meeting and training session. At the meeting, another colleague remarked how she thought my style had shifted a bit — gotten bolder? — along with my bold new haircut. I’m not sure about that myself, but it was nice to receive the compliment! 🙂

I hadn’t even thought about how the shirt and skirt combined to look like a dress. And oooh, wouldn’t your new dress look great with your cargo vest for a similar look? And I say YES to houndstooth tights — they’re quite a subtle print. From far away, they look grey, and then up close, BAM, pattern! 😉

Though I love the pin-spired pants, but I love your take on it. I see identical pin-spired outfits and though I think that’s great too, your interpretation is a bit more enjoyable for me because you put your own style into converting her’s.

That is so nice of you to say, Meghan. Thank you. Some interpretations I’ve done have been pretty straight-up imitations — because I was so excited I had such similar pieces! But this one definitely took me in another direction, as I did have houndstooth in my wardrobe, but tights instead of pants. I say go where the inspiration takes you! 🙂
