Bright + bold pattern-mixing

Be warned:  today’s backdrop is bright and bold! Not sure why I thought it was a great idea to pose in a grungy parking garage painted eye-searingly yellow (Portland residents will recognize this as the parking garage for Powell’s Books downtown), but it seemed to make sense at the time.

Perhaps because yellow and purple (the colored jeans I’m wearing) are complementary colors? Regardless, grey stripes and purple leopard print are certainly complementary patterns to mix together. 😉

I wore this more casual work outfit for a heavy teaching day — hence the flats — and a book reading event after work. Even though I have my own “no jeans on teaching days” rule, I bent that rule a bit with these colored jeans.

Thanks, Erin! I actually thought of you and the stairwell backdrop you use sometimes for your photos. It was late in the day — so no natural light — and I didn’t want to rewear the outfit and take photos later. So laziness won out — and I guess it worked out all right in the end! 😉
