Simple and striking in teal green

I have been having fun experimenting with my newly short hair, but for my first day back at work with my new hairstyle, I wanted to keep the entire look simple and striking.

The color scheme (teal green + black + cream) and silhouette are quite basic, so I wanted to add a bit of punch with interesting earrings — and the long earrings bring even more focus to the new ‘do. Ditto for the bold “Cherries in the Snow” lipstick!

I focused on one distinctive color — in this case, teal green — but I tried to add interest with varying shades of that color. There’s a subtle ombre effect, starting with the mint earrings, down to the bright teal of the cardigan, and then finished off with the dark teal kitten heels in a patent leather finish.

Details:  Teal green cardigan:  August Silk via Macy’s, last winter {same style + brand in different colors} /  Black trousers:  Maurice’s, old {very similar}  /  Teal green patent leather heels:  Macy’s, gift-carded this spring {same brand + similar style in different colors} {similar style in pine green patent leather}  /  Cream blouse:  Dana Buchman for Kohl’s, last winter {exact in several colors} {same style in plus size}  /  Mint green earrings:  Old Navy, gift-carded last winter {similar} {similar in mint + coral}
