What I got (June 2014)

Time for this month’s shopping round-up! I kept things pretty simple this month:

Librarian for Life + Style | What I Got: June 2014 collage

I have had a grey striped t-shirt on my list for awhile, and I kept striking out. It’s harder to find grey-striped tees than you’d think! I tried on this one at Old Navy because I liked the longer sleeves, but ultimately decided it was too sheer, and the rib-knit texture felt too casual.

Then one day while we were out near the Bridgeport Village shops in Tigard, just south of Portland, I found the perfect grey-striped t-shirt at J. Crew. I love the 3/4 sleeves, the boatneck neckline, as well as the slightly relaxed fit and length. This is my FIRST purchase at J. Crew — the prices are just a little out of my league — but luckily, they were having a 30% off sale. And I’ve already worn the t-shirt a couple of times, including here.

I also have been trying to find a comfy pair of metallic sandals, to replace my current pair of silver/pewter sandals (the silvery tone is flaking off and cracking already! although they still look cute, and I will wear them until they fall apart). I have high hopes for this Naturalizer pair of sandals that I found at DSW, and oh.my.goodness. the comfort factor is really good. They’re a bit more casual in style than I was originally going for, but the mix of metallics helps boost the chic factor. Plus, I had a $10 off DSW coupon!

Details:

  • Grey striped t-shirt:  J. Crew, $31.50 (original price $45, 30% off sale, saved $13.50)
  • Pewter-and-bronze sandals:  Naturalizer via DSW, $39.95 (original price $70, DSW price at $49.95, used $10 DSW coupon, saved $30.05)

Last, but not least, I received a complimentary item of clothing from eShakti to review, and I chose this adorable-yet-classic bicycle-print dress, which I reviewed here in this post. So I was $0 out-of-pocket, but the original price for the dress is $69.96. When you add custom sizing ($7.50) and shipping (usually around $10-15), the price would be closer to $90.

MONTHLY TOTAL = $71.45
MONTHLY SAVINGS = $133.55

I’ve already worn all these purchases, including my post earlier this week featuring my new grey-striped top. And getting these sandals is perfect timing, as I travel to the American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference, which is in Las Vegas this year; I’m planning my entire conference wardrobe around these comfy sandals.

But don’t worry, I’ve got posts all lined up and ready to go while I’m gone, including details on what I packed for the conference. 🙂

That eShakti dress is great – whimsical yet understated print, and the silhouette is so flattering on you! I’m also liking the metallic sandals … I was fortunate enough to win a $50 Zappos giftcard in a giveaway recently, and I’m thinking a metallic sandal might be a nice change of pace from the usual black and brown sandals that I wear for work.
