Happy Monday! If you haven’t already voted for your favorite outfit of mine from April, you can do that here. Thanks in advance!
When I chose a Lawren Harris landscape for the next Style Imitating Art challenge, I was drawn to the depth and richness of the colors in the painting. (I was also very pleased that my choice this week totally goes with this week’s “Inspiration Monday” pick!)
And there is still time to participate in SIA — just send me a picture of an outfit (email@example.com) inspired by this painting by tonight, May 5 (by 10 pm PST, please), and I will post an SIA round-up tomorrow morning. Remember, you don’t have to be a blogger to participate.
I really had no idea what I would put together when I chose this painting, but when I happened upon the yellow cardigan at the “biggest clothing swap in the NW,” as detailed here and here, I knew that would be my starting point for my SIA interpretation. I then tried to add depth to my outfit by layering the cardigan over shades of blue: royal blue on top and navy on the bottom. For accessories, I added my new navy earrings that I recently picked up at the Here We Go Again resale boutique, as well as my paternal grandmother’s coral ring.
I also chose this “urban landscape” as the backdrop, in order to bring some more colors from the painting into the frame — colors like green and brown that I didn’t have to incorporate into my outfit. 😉
Details: Yellow cardigan: Target Merona, recently clothing-swapped / Blue button-down: Old Navy, gift-carded spring 2012 / Navy ankle pants: Macy’s, gift-carded last summer / Flats: Payless, last spring / Navy dangle earrings: Newly gift-carded at local resale boutique / Coral ring: Paternal grandmother’s, vintage
And, last but not least, for “Mix It Monday,” here are three different ways I’ve styled this royal blue button-down from Old Navy:
