I’ve mentioned StyleUp before, most recently in this post. You sign up for free and receive daily style inspiration, along with local weather, and quick tips for how to recreate the look. When this look from the Classy Cubicle (a fave, as seen here) showed up in my inbox, I knew I could easily recreate this classy outfit of classic pieces and pinned it immediately on my Work Outfit Ideas board.
I like the brief recommendations below the inspiration photos StyleUp sends out, as they break down the outfit into an easy-to-understand format, almost like an equation. Camel blazer? Check! Blue oxford? Check! Burgundy trousers? Yep. Leopard accents? Done and done. Insta-outfit! And a fresh color combination I hadn’t really thought of before.
I actually could have gone a couple of different ways with this outfit, as I have two burgundy trousers: the fuller pair, seen here, and a version in a slimmer ankle pants, last seen here. I could have more faithfully recreated the inspiration look if I had gone with my (redyed) ankle pants, but I went with my wider-leg trousers as they are a thicker weight, and it is still a bit chilly.
Details: Tan blazer: The Limited, fall 2012 / Burgundy trousers: Target, last fall / Blue mini-striped button-down: H&M, winter 2012 / Flats: Payless, last spring / Leopard print belt: Kohl’s, gift-carded this winter / Pearl statement necklace: Abu Dhabi, gift from Sam, 2011 / Pearl hoop earrings: Abu Dhabi, gift from Sam, 2010
By the way, a huge shout-out of thanks to my friend and fellow librarian Stephanie, last seen here, who took all the outfit photos you’ll see this week. She was kind enough to stand in as photographer last week while my husband was away at a conference. Thanks, Stephanie!
And by the way, if you’re a longtime reader, you might notice this pearl necklace is looking a little longer than usual. That’s because I’m using the bracelet extender trick I learned from my blogger friend Erin @ Loop Looks! 🙂
For “Mix It Mondays,” here is a look at other outfits I’ve paired this pearl necklace with. The different colors of grey, burgundy, chocolate, and cream make this necklace quite versatile!
