Layering a cap-sleeved dress

During the holiday break, my husband and I were fortunate enough to catch up with a couple of friends from college (and their two awesome kids) while they were visiting Portland, and Sam had the great idea to meet up at the zoo! We’re members, so we visit the Oregon Zoo quite often during the year.

On this cold winter day, I dressed in layers and busted out some new items in my closet:   my recently ordered grey eShakti dress (seen here), my crocheted lace necklace, a Christmas gift from my sweet hubby, as well as the blue knitted scarf from the fashion swap this past fall.

Love all these colors together!

Details:  Grey dress:  eShakti, new  /  Grey fleece-lined leggings:  Fred Meyer, fall  /  Cognac riding boots:  Marc Fisher via Macy’s, fall  /  Blue turtleneck:  ?, old  /  Blue scarf:  Fall fashion swap, this fall  /  Crocheted lace necklace:  MOSS Handmade, gift from husband this winter

I also took a few photos, with and without the scarf, for better views of this new eShakti dress:

Love the seaming on this dress and how it helps give me more of an hourglass, feminine shape. There’s a bit of elastic smocking in the back for comfort, and true to the eShakti attention to (practical) detail, there are pockets! The length is fine, but it would be easy to hem it in the future if needed since the dress is cotton jersey knit. Also, I layered the dress over long sleeves for the first time out to see how easy it would be to layer, and I was pleased with the result. I also can see this dress accented with a belt.

Eshakti scores again! 🙂  The grey dress I ordered is out of stock, but there are similar options in green and teal.

And here’s a quick gallery on what I’ve worn to the zoo. Running style themes:  I definitely gear toward layers and flat-heeled, tall boots.
