Layering stripes + gingham

Today’s outfit was inspired by actress and style blogger Ashley Madekwe. I loved her striped, boat-neck tee layered over a buttoned-up shirt.

And OF COURSE I had to throw in a little pattern-mixing by layering my black-and-white, long-sleeved tee over a blue gingham shirt. And true to Ashley’s inspiration, I buttoned that shirt all the way up; I love how the points peek out below the boat neckline of the t-shirt. I kept the vibe low-key with an easy side braid. And although it barely shows up on camera, I played off the stripes in the t-shirt with my new side-striped skinny jeans (you can see the stripes better in this post). I also brought out my high-heeled tall boots — I thought they might be feeling a little neglected because of all the wear my new flat-heeled boots have been getting lately. 😉

And as you probably noticed, the weather has turned colder, and we’ve gotten our first snows of the season. It is COLD, y’all. Brrrrrrrrrr ….
