Today is extra-extra-special. Why? Because today is our wedding anniversary! 12 years and counting. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
And here’s a quick trip down our own personal memory lane.
First stop? Pics from our series of engagement photos, taken by a friend in college. These were taken in the fall of 1998. Oh, ’90s fashion. You crack me up. 😀
As do these outtakes from that same engagement photo session. Some things never change!
Next stop, a mere 3 years later to our wedding in 2001. Why the long engagement? I wanted my maiden name on my college degree. True story. 😉
We got married in Poetry, Texas (awwwwww!) in a little one-steepled church. We had a budget for the wedding, and yes, I’m still proud that we came in under budget! For my wedding dress, I had scouted out a dress I loved — which cost more than our entire wedding budget — and then had a local seamstress make it for me, with modifications that better suited my figure. For example, the inspiration dress had a round neckline, which we changed to a more squared-off neckline. The seamstress also layered chiffon over the skirt and added peach-and-white rosettes along the empire waistline. ♥
And yes, I still have my wedding dress! In an archival box, of course. I am a librarian.
For the send-off, we wore “Married in the Millennium” t-shirts (a gift from my mom), and instead of throwing rice, friends and family rang little bells.
And finally, just for kicks, here’s a selfie 12 years later of those two crazy kids in love. ♥
Have a Happy Anniversary Thursday!
