Neon stripes remixing

Today, I’m trying something a little different. Tomorrow is the link-up for this month’s style challenge from t+j designs, and this month incorporated two trends, “What type of girl are you:  pastel or neon?,” featuring two beautiful statement necklaces. I’m also linking up with Third Thursday Threads, as this month’s theme is stripes.

I went neon, as I thought the neon statement necklace would be a perfect complement to the  neon-striped skirt that I picked up recently at our local thrift store. And to go even further, I wanted to show how this necklace would be a great addition to either a casual or more work-appropriate look. Remixing = 😀

Casual version:

I chose the sandals, denim jacket, and wicker purse (and side ponytail) to add that casual vibe to this striped skirt.

And here it is with the statement necklace. Fun and colorful! And it totally picks up on the neon colored stripes in the skirt. 🙂

Details:  Striped pencil skirt:  Target Merona label, thrifted  /  Denim jacket:  Old Navy, gift-carded last fall  /  Tank top:  Target, old  /  Gold-and-cream sandals:  Target, last summer  /  Vintage wicker purse:  Art fair in Chicago, old

Work version:

The foundation is the same as the casual version (tank top + striped skirt), but switching to the blazer, tote bag, and patent leather wedges adds up to a more professional look. I will definitely be wearing this combo again, when school starts up again in the fall.

All buttoned-up:

And just look how great this statement necklace looks with this work remix! It adds just enough sparkle to ramp up this work look. And keeping the other accessories neutral (the wedges and the tote bag) is key to keeping the attention on the statement necklace.

Which version do you prefer? Please leave a comment and let me know.

Also, I am posting extra outtakes from each post this week on my Facebook page, and there will be super-sized outtakes post this Friday. My awkwardness awaits your smile. 😀
