I probably should have saved this until the next Copycats Friday post, but I couldn’t resist. I absolutely LOVE this look from Veronika @ Girl and Closet. And I can guarantee personal hand-clapping when I realized that I could easily recreate it with pieces from my own wardrobe. 😀 Hooray for simple, classic basics!
These tights have a subtle ribbed texture.

What for? For a day in the classroom and helping to represent the library at college department meetings, I wanted to look more professional. Not that I don’t try to look professional other days, but you know what I mean. Today felt like a day for a classic pencil skirt and heels (versus a day for tall boots over skinny jeans, like yesterday). And in case these Mary Jane heels look familiar, they’re the black version of these grey patent leather ones seen here. When I like something, I really like it, y’all. And I didn’t even think about it at the time, but it’s funny how I also the background in my photos also echoes the inspiration photo! 🙂
And finally the hair. A simple look in concept, but with a slight twist. I basically followed the first half of this hair tutorial here on The Small Things Blog. This meant starting out with pulling the central bit of hair back, then pulling pieces from the sides to bobby pin over and under the original center bit. It provides a bit more dimension and body to the classic half-up, half-down hairstyle.
