When?  April 27, 2012

What for?  I broke my own rules today, but I’ll explain why. There’s ALWAYS a reason with a librarian. 🙂

I had a library instruction class today (8 am, coffee firmly in hand), so that usually means no jeans for me. But I have also started a weekly constitutional — hee hee, that’s just fancy talk for a walk — with a friend and co-worker on Friday afternoons, where we explore the trails around our campus nature preserve. That’s right, we have a nature preserve on campus. Oregon is so cool. ♥ So that also necessitated comfy footwear that I didn’t have to worry about literally muddying up. Compromise? Black skinny jeans with my sturdy rain boots. (Seriously, how classy-looking are these rain boots? Soooooo comfortable with a double internal liner and sole inserts.)

There is no official dress code at my workplace; it’s my own personal rule not to wear regular jeans on teaching days. But I do have my own hierarchy of work-appropriate wear — of course — and black denim is dressier in my view than dark denim. So that’s a very long way of justifying how I broke my own rule. 😉 And the tweedy blazer jazzed things up a bit, as well. The end goal = comfortable yet also pulled together. Mission accomplished. And a rare day when I wore my hair down. Baby steps.

I agree, black denim is versatile. And from one (former) expat to another, I love your blog, Marie Loves. You’ve also given me extra inspiration to keep growing my hair out. 🙂
